Acceptable Use Policy

Scope

This policy covers two things: how you may use this website and its content, and how everyone is expected to behave in a coaching engagement, a group session, or a retreat. It forms part of the terms of service.

Using this website

You are welcome to read, link to, and share anything published here. Quoting a passage with attribution and a link back is fine and encouraged.

What is not acceptable is anything that damages the site or misrepresents it.

• Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts, or the systems behind it.
• Interfering with the site, including denial of service attempts, or introducing malicious code.
• Copying substantial portions of the content to republish as your own, or passing off this work as someone else’s. See the licensing page for what is permitted.
• Misrepresenting your identity, or implying an endorsement, partnership, or certification that does not exist.
• Using contact details published here to send unsolicited marketing.

Automated access and AI crawlers

Search engine and AI crawlers are welcome here. They may crawl, index, and quote this content, and the robots file explicitly permits them.

What is asked in return is straightforward: respect the robots file, identify yourself honestly in your user agent, crawl at a reasonable rate, and attribute the source when you quote. Scraping the site at a rate that degrades it for human readers, or disguising a crawler as a human visitor, is not acceptable.

Conduct in coaching

Coaching depends on both people showing up honestly. What is expected is simple.

• Engage in good faith, and be honest about what is actually going on for you.
• Arrive on time, and give notice if you need to move a session.
• Do not record a session, in audio or video, without asking first and getting agreement.
• Treat Makayla with the same respect you expect in return.

Abusive, threatening, or harassing behaviour ends the engagement immediately.

Confidentiality in groups and retreats

Group settings and retreats only work if people can speak freely. Anything another participant shares in a group session or on a retreat stays there. Do not repeat it, and do not post it.

Do not photograph or record other participants without their explicit agreement, and do not share images of them online without asking.

Conduct on retreats

Retreats take place in shared spaces, often abroad, alongside other guests and venue staff.

• Follow the safety instructions given by Makayla, by the venue, and by any activity provider.
• Treat venue staff, other guests, and the local community with respect.
• Do not bring illegal substances, and do not behave in a way that puts yourself or anyone else at risk.
• Take responsibility for your own belongings and your own travel documents.

Where behaviour puts other people at risk or seriously disrupts a retreat, you may be asked to leave. In that case the cancellation terms in the terms of service apply, and no refund is given.

Reporting a problem

If something here concerns you, whether a security issue with the site or the behaviour of someone in a group or on a retreat, email makayla@heartandhomeconnection.com. It will be taken seriously and handled discreetly.

If this policy is broken

Depending on what happened, the response may be a conversation, removal of access to the site, ending a coaching engagement, removal from a retreat, or referral to the relevant authorities. Where an engagement ends because of a serious breach, fees already paid are not refunded.
