Wellness and Leadership Retreats
Wellness and Leadership Retreats for Colorado Women
Makayla Maniscalco is a Westminster, Colorado based coach and retreat leader who runs immersive wellness and leadership retreats combining yoga, breathwork and nervous system work, held internationally in a new destination each year and attended by women travelling from Denver and the Front Range.
To be direct about geography: the retreats are not held in Colorado. Makayla is based in Westminster and most attendees travel out from the Denver metro, but the retreats themselves go somewhere else each year. Panama in 2026 and 2025, Bali in 2024, Nicaragua in 2023.
The next one is The Portal, a seven day retreat at Sansara Surf and Yoga Resort in Panama, running 11 to 17 October 2026.
Who this is for
- The woman who has already done the work. You are not looking for a first breakthrough. You are looking to embody what you already understand.
- The leader who cannot rest at home. Being in your own house means being available. Distance is the only thing that has ever actually worked.
- The Denver professional with one week to spend well. You get limited time off and you want it to change something, not just interrupt the calendar.
- The returning retreater. You have been before, with Makayla or someone else, and you know what a week like this does.

The shape of the week
Days move between movement, breath, somatic and nervous system practice, coaching, and unstructured rest. It is an immersion rather than a schedule to survive, and the pace is deliberately not a productivity retreat.
Why it goes abroad
Distance is doing real work here. Being unreachable is most of what allows the system to stand down, and that is far harder to achieve an hour from your own front door.
Past destinations
Panama in 2026 and 2025, Bali in 2024, Nicaragua in 2023. Attendees have described leaving with clarity and confidence rather than only rest, and the full detail for the current retreat lives on the Panama page.
Credentials and methods

Retreats are wellness experiences, not clinical care or treatment for any condition.

Common questions
Do you run retreats in Colorado, or only internationally?
Only internationally at present. Makayla is based in Westminster and the community around the retreats is largely Colorado based, but each retreat itself is held abroad, in a new destination every year. Corporate wellness sessions and speaking engagements are the work she delivers locally across Colorado.
Who attends a Makayla Maniscalco retreat?
Women who have generally done a good deal of personal work already and want to embody it rather than start it. Many are entrepreneurs, executives or practitioners. Groups are small, and people arrive alone far more often than they arrive with a friend.
What makes this a leadership retreat and not just a yoga holiday?
The yoga is real, but the week is built around coaching and nervous system work as well as movement. The aim is a change in how you lead and hold pressure when you get home, which a purely restorative week does not tend to produce.
How is a retreat different from a week of vacation?
A vacation removes you from the demand and then returns you to it essentially unchanged. A retreat uses that removal deliberately, with structure, facilitation and a group around you, so something actually shifts during the window when your system is finally quiet enough to allow it.
Is travel from Denver arranged for me?
Flights are booked by each attendee rather than arranged as a group. What happens once you land in the destination country is covered in the retreat details, including transfers through to the resort itself. The Panama page carries the specifics that apply to the current retreat.
What happens after the retreat ends?
The practices come home with you, which is the point of doing nervous system work rather than only resting. Some attendees move into one to one coaching afterwards to hold what opened up, though nothing on retreat is a sales pitch for it.
How far in advance should I book?
Groups are small and retreats have historically filled ahead of the date, so early is better. Deposit terms, payment schedule and the cancellation policy are all set out on the retreat page rather than here, because they change with each destination.
